- The Anglican Deanery of Thunder Bay is hosting a PWRDF (Primates World Relief and Development Fund) workshop with Charlotte Haldenby, the PWRDF Diocese Coordinator, as the workshop leader. It will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 and the location will be announced once it is confirmed. This workshop is for anyone interested in the work of the PWRDF, and should appeal especially to Parish PWRDF Coordinators. - How can you help the people of Pakistan? The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is accepting donations for emergency response through ACT Alliance (ACT) to the flooding in Pakistan. PWRDF contributed an initial grant of $15,000 for rapid response by ACT members. As well, PWRDF donated funds from its account in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) to a joint project that will feed 3,000 families for 2 months. As part of an initiative by Canadian Churches in Action (CCA), PWRDF received $50,000 from the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC) to provide emergency shelter for 550 affected families. Three ACT Alliance members and a number of their local partners are getting food, emergency shelter, hygiene kits, water and other emergency relief items to the most vulnerable flood affected communities in remote areas of Pakistan. ACT has issued an appeal for 4.1 million USD, 34% of which has been funded thus far.
