Christmas Teas

1. St. Stephen’s Christmas Tea and Bazaar will be held Friday, Nov. 18 from 6 to 9 PM at Current River Recreation Centre, 450 Dewe Avenue. The cost will be $4.50. There will be a bake table and book sale, etc. and lots of goodies. 2. St. Luke’s Anglican Church is hosting a St. Nicholas “Share the Spirit” Tea on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 2 – 4 PM in the Parish Hall, corner of Cameron & McKenzie Streets. Another ‘Year of Jubilee’ Celebration. All are welcome.

3. St. George’s A.C.W. Christmas Tea and Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 2 -4 PM. Crafts, Bake Table, Silent Auction. Tickets: Adults $4; Children under 12 $2.

4. St. Michael’s Christmas Tea and Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 2 – 4 PM. Crafts, Bake Table, Deli Table.

5. St. Stephen’s Spaghetti Supper – November 13th, 494 Leslie Ave (at Arundel). Take out from 4 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $8 (please bring your own container). Eat in from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at a cost of $10 (includes salad and dessert). For more information, contact Arlene Halverson at 683-3294 or Dora Scrimshaw at 345-8068.

6. The Mission to Seafarers in Thunder Bay is looking for donations for Christmas Gift Bags to be given to seafarers in December. Donations need to be at the Seafarers’ Centre by November 21. Suggested donations include mittens, gloves, writing paper, and wrapped candy. For further information information go to www.missiontoseafarers.ca/thunderbay or call 344-8241 . The Mission to Seafarers is also still looking for donations of clothing, particularly warm small to medium men’s clothing.

7. A six-part DVD series “Surprised by Hope” will be offered at St. Stephen’s at 7:30 pm on Mondays: November 7 and 21, December 5 and 19 and January 16 and 30. It is based on the book Surprised by Hope written by Bishop Tom Wright, who is a New Testament scholar and Bishop of Durham. The topics are: Hope, Resurrection, Heaven, Second Coming, Salvation, and Church. This study is a fresh look at early church beliefs. We will watch the DVD and discuss it. There is a Study booklet, which you can purchase from www.chapters.ca, or order from St. Stephen’s at $11.00. Everyone is invited to come and participate.

8. On November 19 Thunder Bay Deanery is hosting a workshop with the Excellence in Worship chairperson, Dr. David Buley. It will be at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Nipigon. The workshop will run from 10:00 till 3:00. Lunch will be provided. This workshop is for everyone who is interested in music, even if you only hum a tune; you will be inspired by Dr. Buley.
