The Anglican and Evangelical Lutheran Women’s Group announce the recipient of their second bursary to Ashley Theriault, a graduating student of the Lakehead Board’s alternative education program College Links, which is attached to Superior CVI.
In school, Ashley has been involved with the Students Council. She is a longstanding member of the Army Cadets, reaching the level of Senior Cadet and has currently accepted the position of Warrant Officer. She has also been involved with the community group Me to We as co-leader of the Mobilizers. She is a recipient of the prestigious and demanding Duke of Edinburgh Award, completing her Bronze and Silver levels and is now working towards her Gold status. Ashley will be attending Confederation College in the Pre-Health Program eventually applying to the nursing program at Lakehead University with a career goal of being a Paediatric Psychiatrist.
 
Ashley achieved several awards at her graduation ceremony on June 18: the ‘’Alternative Education Award’’ for a graduate with good attendance, academic achievement and citizenship; the ‘’City of Thunder Bay High School Entrance Award’’; the ‘’Ronald B. Lester Memorial Youth Foundation bursary’’; and the ‘’John Scott Memorial Award’’.

St. Luke’s is seeking a Sunday School Teacher to provide a Christian education program for children ages three to eight, on the second, third, fourth and fifth Sundays throught the year.  The Teacher will serve under the guidance of the Sunday School Superintendent, for a duration of 2.5 hours each week at St. Luke’s, plus 1 hour preparation time at home, at a rate of pay of $10 per hour.  Interested persons will need to have a mature faith journey, a love of children, a servant’s heart and experience with teaching Sunday School.  A clean police record check is also required.  A full job description may be obtained by contacting St. Luke’s Church office at 622-1243 or by email at stlukes@shaw.ca
